A warrant of fitness (WoF) is a regular check to ensure that your vehicle meets required safety standards

It’s our job to keep your vehicle up to WoF condition at all times.

How often a WoF is required

Vehicles first registered anywhere in the world on or after 1 January 2000 will need annual WoF inspections for their lifetime. For new vehicles, after an initial inspection, another WoF inspection won’t be required until the 3rd anniversary of their first registration.

The length of time a WoF is issued for is calculated based on the vehicle’s date of first registration in New Zealand or overseas, and are described in more detail READ MORE –

Did you know:

It’s a good idea to combine your WOF and vehicle service, because WOF inspections do not cover all safety aspects of your vehicle. For example engine, clutch, gearbox and differential; lubricant levels and condition; brake pad thickness or life expectancy; are not checked in WOF inspections, but they can be checked as part of a vehicle service.

A certificate of fitness (CoF) is a regular check to ensure that your vehicle meets required safety standards. Vehicles requiring this certification are:

  • all passenger service vehicles – taxis, shuttles and buses
  • rental vehicles.

It’s our job to keep your vehicle up to CoF condition at all times. READ MORE –

What a CoF is not

A CoF is not a pre-purchase inspection. It doesn’t include many areas of a vehicle’s condition. For example it doesn’t check:

  • engine, clutch, gearbox and differential condition
  • lubricant levels and condition
  • brake pad thickness or life expectancy, unless they are visibly below safe limits
  • paint work condition and some rust in non-structural areas.

Automatic Transmission

How often does the oil needs to be changed? Automatic transmissions need flushing & servicing every 40,000kms. Automatic transmissions typically fail due to internally overheating. This is usually a direct result of poor maintenance.

Manual Transmission

How often does the gear oil needs to be changed? Recommended gear oil change intervals if you use your car for towing  or driving in muddy or otherwise severe conditions, vary between 50,000 and 80,000kms. For normal driving conditions some car manufacturers recommend changing gear oil every 100,000-120,000kms.

Tune Up Service: Ignition System and Spark Plugs.

Did you know:

The word Tune-up is an outdated and obsolete term. The need for tune-ups went away in the mid-1980s when fuel injection replaced carburetors and conventional spark plugs were replaced with long life platinum spark plugs. Yet many people think their engine still needs a tune-up.

What does a Precision Tune Auto Care Tune Up include?

  • Tune-up verification
  • Replacement of spark plugs
  • Analysis of emission levels
  • Timing/idle speed adjustment (if adjustable)
  • Complete maintenance inspection

Benefits of a Properly Maintained Ignition System

  • Quick starting
  • Increased performance
  • Increased fuel economy
  • Lower emissions
  • Cure specific driveability concern (requires diagnosis, see manager for details)
  • Conserves spark energy for the combustion chamber
  • Regulates spark energy

Ignition System

The ignition system is responsible for producing and transferring the spark energy to the combustion chamber at the correct time.

Ignition Coils

Produce high voltage spark energy sufficient to properly ignite the air/fuel mixture inside the combustion chamber.  The On-Board computer or ignition module typically controls ignition coils.

Distributer Cap and Rotor

The distributor cap is the connection point for all sparkplug wires.  Distributor type ignitions systems (DI) also have a distributor rotor.  The rotor spins inside the cap distributing the spark current to each sparkplug wire.  Electronic Ignition (EI) systems do not have distributors, but instead have multiple ignition coils.

Ignition Wires

Provides a conductive path for the spark current from the distributor cap or coil to the spark plugs.  Contain the spark energy.

Exhaust manifold, gasket, fastener, joint, catalytic converter, muffler, tailpipe, emission inspection, fitting and servicing.

Did you know:

If you hear a rattling noise coming from your car’s exhaust or notice any other signs which might indicate a problem with the exhaust system, it is strongly recommended that you address the problem before it gets worse, especially if your vehicle is due for WOF or COF test. Even a small issue with your vehicle’s exhaust system can lead to WOF or COF.

Why Caring For Your Exhaust System Is Important

The exhaust system is a crucial part of your vehicle. It prevents exposure to harmful gases by venting fumes away from the interior of the vehicle. It also helps to maintain the fuel efficiency of your vehicle. The system works constantly once you turn on your engine. The majority of modern cars have a catalytic converter as a part of the exhaust system. The main purpose this is to reduce harmful pollution from the gases emitted by the exhaust system.

The catalytic converter is an important component of the WOF/COF and car service. It may get damaged when excessive amount of oil enters the component. Damage may also occur when your car’s engine is not tuned properly.

Our Exhaust Solutions Include

Immediate, quality replacement of parts for exhaust systems and catalytic converters for all cars and many other vehicles We can also fit an entirely new exhaust system if needed All our exhaust parts and catalytic converters come with manufacturer’s warranty.

All tyres supplied, fitted and balanced.

Did you know:

New Zealand tyre standards.

For tyres to be deemed roadworthy on New Zealand roads they need at least 1.5mm of tread depth. Bare in mind that this is simply the minimum amount required to keep you safe in your vehicle. When the road is wet you still need to take care with as much as 3.00mm tread. Needless to say it is so important for the safety of you and everyone on the road to have quality tyres on your vehicle and to ensure that they are maintained.,

We can attend to all your Wheel Aligment requirements, including 4 Wheel Alignment, Camber kits & Caravan Axle Alignment.

When Do You Need a Wheel Alignment?

If your car drifts to one side and you have to turn the steering wheel away from the center position to drive straight, that is a good indication that your wheels are out of alignment. Perhaps it is the result of hitting a deep pothole or scoring a direct hit on a curb while parking, Fair wear and tear — as vehicles age, rubber components start cracking or lose their elasticity and ball and socket joints develop looseness. They start to give a little more, progressively getting slightly worse over time.
